You’ll find precious few people who will admit this 20 years on, but Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill effing rips. Anyone who can listen to “You Oughta Know” and not come away thinking Alanis is punk as all hell is fooling themselves. But even the naysayers will be forced to come around after Alanis releases the 20th anniversary edition, which includes performances of its iconic tracks with Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins and Jane’s Addiction’s Chris Chaney.
The four-disc collector’s edition will include a remastered version of the album, an all-acoustic take on the album, a tape of 10 unreleased demos from the same time frame and a live concert recording from the year of Pill‘s release. That’s where Hawkins and Chaney come in to play; they served in Morissette’s backing band Sexual Chocolate.
Morissette released a statement regarding the new edition of the album.
“I’m super excited to share this music with a whole new generation of peeps, as well as people who have grown along with me over the last two decades. Thankfully, these songs have stood the test of time for me, and, in their timelessness, I am thrilled to honor and reflect on them, as well as the last 20 years of my life and career.”
