Deadmau5 Tried To Clown Lil Yachty’s Request For An EDM Song And Got Owned Instead

Most artists aren’t satisfied with doing the same thing over and over again, so they’re always trying to branch into different areas and expand their creative horizons. Lil Yachty, for example, took to Twitter yesterday to say that he wants to try his hand at EDM: “I wanna do a big EDM song and perform it at one of those festivals. Which EDM DJ tryna make it with me?”

It’s a pretty harmless question, and putting himself out there like that seems like a solid way to actually find a collaborator, but it certainly won’t be Deadmau5. He saw the tweet and responded with a salty answer: “I’m good, thanks.”

That’s when Diplo stepped in, or rather, the Twitter account associated with the Viceland show What Would Diplo Do?, which stars James Van Der Beek as a satirical caricature of the artist. In response to Deadmau5’s diss, “Diplo” wrote, “I don’t think he was asking you, he said he wanted to do a big song.” The real Diplo has actually collaborated with Lil Yachty before, on “Worry No More,” which also features Santigold.

Meanwhile, Yachty wasn’t going to take this lying down, as he responded to Deadmau5, “Didn’t ask you in particular b-tchn—a.”

Vince Staples seems to be enjoying this Twitter beef, as he replied to Yachty’s response, “Y’all should squabble up.”

It also seems like maybe Deadmau5 tried to rebuild the bridge he just burned, as he responded to Yachty with an invite to play PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: “Some PUBG tho? Yachty wasn’t having any of that: “Suck my dick, I play Fortnite,” he answered.
