While celebrities are more accessible than ever thanks to social media giving intimate glimpses into their personal lives, how many people would know a celebrity who was trying to stay hidden, even if it was in plain sight? That’s the question asked by this promotion video from Lyft featuring singer Demi Lovato. Even if you aren’t a fan of Lovato’s music, it’s hard not to recognize someone like her. Seriously, she’s just about everywhere and has been for a while.
This video features Lovato posing as Samantha, a mild-manner Lyft driver who is aspiring to be a singer, traveling around the country with her ex-boyfriend’s brother to perform and hope to be noticed. If those hints weren’t enough, I don’t know. She then started grilling her passengers about Demi Lovato, what they thought about her, if they’ve ever met her, and if they were ever a fan or not.
Of course, they weren’t actually aware of the girl at the wheel in the big aviator sunglasses was actually Demi Lovato, which led to a few of them saying they weren’t fans or, well, worse. There are also a few of them that were just enamored with Lovato and her songs. But alas, everyone seemed genuinely surprised to see Lovato driving a Lyft in Denver and it was all in good fun, making for some memorable, viral moments for Lyft. Everyone wins. Except for that girl that was going to another concert the next night instead of the Lovato concert. That’s just awkward.
