Sunday morning, while I was getting a bagel at my local bakery (pertinent information), LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It” came on the restaurant’s radio. For a brief moment, I thought about burning the place down and pissing on the scorched remains, until I remembered they were only place around with a whole wheat everything bagel. But watch yourself, John’s. You’re on The List.
Moral of the story: “Sexy and I Know It” is a terrible song, the kind that makes you long for the days of “Moves Like Jagger.” Until this morning, I didn’t think it was possible to make it even slightly tolerable – until I heard Noah Guthrie’s cover on YouTube. The South Carolina high school student uploaded an acoustic, soulful version of the hit song and racked up 2.5 million hits over the weekend, which led to an appearance on the Today show. To say it’s better than the original isn’t giving it nearly enough credit: the kid actually turned sh*t into gold, so he’s basically the new Jesus, or something.
