It seems like we have been hearing about another remake of A Star is Born for a long time now. Originally, Clint Eastwood was attached to direct, but Bradley Cooper has been in line to make his directing debut with the film for a while. Beyonce’s name was attached as the star, but she had to back out because of scheduling conflicts on account of the fact she is the biggest musician in the world. Now, though, it seems like the movie has taken a big step toward finally getting made, as Lady Gaga is now in negotiations to star in the film.

According to the reports, Cooper has been trying to get Gaga lined up for the movie for quite some time, but she was undecided on whether or not to take the role. Evidently, she did decided to take the part, although negotiations could always fall apart. Given how tumultuous the movie’s history has been thus far, you don’t want to take anything for granted.

While Lady Gaga first came to fame as a musician, she’s been doing a lot more acting recently, and even won a (controversial) Golden Globe for her work on American Horror Story: Hotel, but starring in a movie would be a big step up for her acting career.
