Rising Rap Star Lor Scoota Shot And Killed In Baltimore

Rising MC and Baltimore native Tyriece ‘Lor Scoota’ Watson was gun downed and killed at an extremely busy intersection in Northeast Baltimore around 7 p.m. Saturday evening. Baltimore Police are certain that it was a targeted shooting. According to T.J. Smith of the Baltimore Police Department,”the unknown suspect stepped into the street and opened fire on the victim.” Several shots were fired at Lor Scoota’s vehicle causing the car to almost crash into the front window of a liquor store. The 23-year-old rapper was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The masked gunman is still at large and there are no suspects. Police are now looking at video surveillance from the intersection.

In an ironic and sad twist, Scoota just attended and served as a host at a charity basketball game held at Morgan State University called “Touch the People Pray for Peace in These Streets” to put an end to gun violence. Despite Scoota’s gritty lyrics about street life like in his most well-known track, 2014’s “Bird Flu” Featuring Shy Glizzy, Scoota started to devote his life towards helping young people in Baltimore. Local councilman Nick Mosby was shocked by the MC’s death telling XXL,

“I am saddened to hear about the death of Tyriece ‘Lor Scoota’ Watson. He had a heart for youth and took the time out of his schedule to join me on my #EyeAmBaltimore Tour to high schools in West Baltimore following last year’s uprising where he spoke about the importance of staying in school.”

Meek Mill and the Game expressed their sorrow for the rising star who left us much too soon. Scoota was also a good friend of Meek Mill and was associated with Mill’s Dreamchasers.
