The trend this year in classic rock it would seem is “goodbye.” Just a week after Elton John announced a mammoth farewell concert series, his contemporary Paul Simon has announced a single, one-off adieu in London’s Hyde Park this summer. Dubbed “Homeward Bound: The Farewell Performance,” Simon will be joined by Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor and other guests on July 15th.

Simon hasn’t said yet whether this is his final show ever, or perhaps just his final performance in the U.K, but he has given signs over the last couple of years that he maybe thinking about hanging up his guitar. In a recent interview with the New York Times, the singer-songrwriter said, “It’s an act of courage to let go. I am going to see what happens if I let go. Then I’m going to see, who am I? Or am I just this person that was defined by what I did? And if that’s gone, if you have to make up yourself, who are you?” He added that at this stage, “showbiz doesn’t hold any interest for me.”

If you’d like to catch this “Farewell Performance,” tickets go on sale on Friday, February 2nd, with prices starting at £69.95
