Twitter Found A Way To Connect Pope John Paul II To Every Rap Video Ever

Wednesday is a special day, as it marks the start of Pope Francis’ visit to the U.S. The internet, though, was more concerned with a previous pope. It all began with the tweet from NBC News above. But while Twitter wasn’t concerned with the link, they were very interested in the photo attached to the tweet, which features the pope standing up in a previous iteration of the popemobile, circa 1982. That led to this:

And that set everything off. Recognizing that the pope’s pose was similar to one we see in many rap videos, Twitter users went on a meme craze, captioning the photo with rap lyrics that best matched up with the visuals. The leader of the pack? ESPN’s Bomani Jones.
