Inglewood Guy Pays Tribute To Prince By Playing ‘Purple Rain’ On Drums In The Back Of A Pickup Truck

There are going to be a lot of polished, well-planned tributes to Prince in the coming weeks. That’s what happens when an icon dies. But there’s also going to be a lot of passionate regular joes expressing their love in the first way that comes to mind. Take, for example, this Inglewood, California man who decided to hop in a pickup truck with a drum kit, lasers and a fog machine to tear through “Purple Rain” at a gas station.

He manages to absolutely slay Prince’s most-iconic track in spite of the fact that he’s got massive speakers in his face and is definitely inhaling a ton of nasty-smelling fog. Love makes folks do crazy things.

Countless people have found their own way to honor the late legend since news of his death broke on April 21. The cast of Hamilton danced along to “Let’s Go Crazy,” the Minnesota Twins turned their stadium purple, James Corden returned to his studio to pay respects and even President Barack Obama took time to comment. This was huge and we’re going to see reactions from huge people.

But you have to admire this kind of commitment from fans who have no public profile to think about. They just wanted Prince to know what he meant to them.
