Tame Impala And Rihanna Make Sweet Music Together By Sharing ‘Same Old Mistakes’

Rihanna’s latest album ‘Anti’ has received mostly mixed reviews, but a few people are feeling inspired by RiRi’s eighth outing. Tame Impala played their Currents track “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” live for the first time on January 29, shortly after Rihanna chose to include a cover of the 2015 song on her new album.

The Tame Impala camp has already released a much more explicit endorsement of the Rihanna cover. According to Tame Impala’s management company, Spinning Top Entertainment, the cover was done with bandleader Kevin Parker’s blessing: “Kevin [Parker] was more than happy to send it her way,” the company revealed in a statement. “We’re all really happy with how the song turned out, love it!”

On the Rihanna side of things, fans didn’t seem to care too much about the botched release. People eager to hear any new Rihanna helped the album go platinum in no time, no doubt boosted by the fact that the Bajan singer was giving the album away for free for several days after its initial release. RiRi has commemorated the succesful release with yet another cover, tackling the Temptations’ classic “My Girl” with Miguel.
