Taylor Swift Approves Of Alessia Cara’s Cover Of ‘Bad Blood’

Taylor Swift is now the queen of music, and perhaps queen of the world, but even she remembers being a young, up-and-coming musician once. As such, she can probably relate to Alessia Cara. The Canadian Cara first got noticed on her YouTube videos, like a regular Justin Bieber, but now she has signed to Def Jam Recordings and released her first single, “Here,” this year. On Wednesday, she did her own take on Swift’s mega popular “Bad Blood,” for BBC Radio 1.

It’s more of a stripped down, jazzy take on the song. It wouldn’t fit with a massive music video filled with explosions and cameos. However, it’s still good, and Swift herself agrees, tweeting a link to the performance to her legion of followers. Unsurprisingly, as an 18-year-old girl, Cara was over the proverbial moon at Swift’s gesture. It’s certainly going to bring more eyes, and ears, to Cara. She definitely is a musician to keep tabs on. Maybe someday soon she’ll be one of Swift’s peers.
