Singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, during the seventh inning stretch is a time-honored tradition. It’s a classic baseball song being sung at a classic baseball field. For years, announcer Harry Caray handled leading the fans in singing the song, but after his passing, various other celebs have stepped up to the plate. Some of these people have done a good job, or at least entertained people. Others, however, have been less successful. You can now add Warren G to the list of people who have not lit the world afire with their rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” In fact, it may very well be the worst.

It all started well enough when Warren G told Cubbies fans to “mount up,” a reference to his irreplaceable hit song “Regulate.” After that, however, it was all downhill. Warren G clearly did not know the lyrics, and it is not a song with difficult to remember lyrics, and that left him off the beat pretty much the entire song. It was, simply put, a disaster. One imagines Warren G will not be asked to return to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” ever again, not that he was making a career of singing the anthem, but it also seems pretty clear his horrendous rendition will not be forgotten anytime soon.
