Did Bret Bielema Really Try To Instigate A Penalty Against Alabama With This Flop?

Alabama beat SEC rival Arkansas 27-14 on Saturday, but even though the Razorbacks are just 2-4 and Bret Bielema has already had everyone from Kliff Kingsbury to Rex Ryan taking shots at him this season, he continues to keep on doing and saying dumb stuff no matter how bad his team is.

Take for example this video, which comes from that Arkansas-Alabama game. After an Alabama interception, Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson was flagged for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after it appeared that he had gotten in Bielema’s face. Turns out, that’s not what happened at all, and it was actually Bielema who not only instigated trash-talk with an opposing player, but then flopped to draw a penalty, and did a jig to celebrate his trickery.

In fairness, Robinson did shove an Arkansas player lightly first, but that was only after the Arkansas player got in his face, and if Bielema was just going into break up the potential scuffle, he certainly wouldn’t have gotten into Robinson’s face like he did.

It doesn’t feel like all that long ago that Bielema was the well-respected Wisconsin coach who won the Bear Bryant Award in 2010, and not the clown who is dancing after fooling the refs into calling a penalty, but here we are. It would be one thing if Bielema was doing these antics with his team winning, but he now has just a 12-19 record during his Arkansas tenure, and even making it to a bowl this year seems far-fetched at this point.

Maybe Bielema should spend less time getting into it with opposing players and more time finding ways to, you know, beat them.
