The Diaz brothers are no strangers to making crazy statements, from both declaring that everyone in the UFC is on steroids to Nick’s recent claim that Georges St-Pierre drugged him before their fight back in 2013. That’s a pretty explosive thing to just throw out there without details, but unfortunately Nick Diaz often goes off on tangents instead of elaborating when asked specific questions.
So it’s a good thing Submission Radio had Nick’s boxing coach Richard Perez on their show, and he gave a much more complete account of exactly where Nick was coming with these accusations. And it’s a pretty crazy story indeed.
“Oh yeah, yeah, I remember that. Yeah I was there, and it was Georges St-Pierre’s nurse or something, came down and he wanted to give Nick some kind of stuff. And I told Nick not to do it, but he gave it to him. So that’s what he’s talking about. I don’t know what it was. I’m not saying that it was a drug or anything, but I just know that he looked different (in the fight). He said he worked with Georges St-Pierre. It was just through an IV.”
“Of course, because he was up all night urinating. I mean he wasn’t feeling good because he was going to the bathroom a lot. I mean, I don’t know what it did, but I know he was going to the bathroom a lot, so it probably dehydrated him and drained him. I don’t know, but I just know I was sitting there and the guy wanted to give him something. I don’t know what it was for. I told him no, but he said it wouldn’t even hurt him. It was strange.”
That is strange. Keep in mind the Diaz camp was in full conspiracy mode since the moment the fight was booked in Montreal, Canada. He also alleges that the Quebec commission told him Georges was going to miss weight by 3 pounds moments before the Canadian fighter stepped on the scale at 170 pounds on the nose.
“I really f**ked up by not walking up to the scale and looking at really how much over he was,” Nick said afterwards. “He could have been seven pounds over. I don’t f**king know. They’re in Canada, and it’s their beloved Georges St-Pierre. That’s what happened there.”
So for Nick to accept an IV from ‘Georges St-Pierre’s nurse or something’ after all that other tomfoolery sounds pretty strange. Perhaps Nick thinks everyone in Canada works for Georges St-Pierre? Even taking out that part, who lets someone they don’t know stick an IV into them? For a guy as suspicious as Nick Diaz, that’s a pretty odd move. Perhaps someone drugged him to lower his guard, and then had Georges’ nurse move in and drug him again so he’d lose the fight. Everyone’s drugging everyone, man!
