The NFL Might Fine Marshawn Lynch For Wearing A ‘Beastmode’ Hat And He Probably Deserves It

Go home NFL, you’re drunk. Very, very drunk. You’re trying to operate a motorized vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. This tweet from Adam Schefter is very much the low point of Super Bowl week (and it’s only Wednesday).

According to Schefter (and Rovell), the league believes Lynch wore an unauthorized hat to promote his clothing brand, “Beastmode.”

Lynch’s hat had his own BeastMode logo on it. The hat was selling on the clothing line’s web site and advertised as “the hat Marshawn wore during the 2015 SB Media Day.” The hat, which cost $33, sold out and the website noted this morning that it was hoping to restock it as soon as possible.

Two things here:

1) The NFL’s out of their mind. They’re drunk on power.
2) Marshawn Lynch is an idiot. I like him, I like the way he plays and I don’t mind the giant F-U he gives the media. In fact, I find it all quite amusing. That being said, he knew what he was doing here. He knew wearing a Beastmode hat would give his brand exposure, he knew it would get him fined. You want to argue with the stupidity of the rule, go right ahead. But that doesn’t change the fact that Lynch knowingly broke it, that doesn’t change the fact the rule, while stupid, applies to him just like it applies to everyone else.
