Tom Brady’s Close Friend And Life Coach Has Been Accused Of Impersonating A Doctor

On Friday, Boston Magazine posted a fascinating piece on Tom Brady’s personal life coach and guru, Alejandro (Alex) Guerrero. If that name looks familiar, it’s because he was mentioned several times in Brady’s emails from the DeflateGate investigation. Anyway, Guerrero is in the news because the Federal Trade Commission has accused him of fraud (on several occasions) for pushing suspect products, including ones that “could cure cancer and concussions.” In an infomercial for a product called Supreme Greens, Guerrero spoke about his father-in-law who died from skin cancer saying that nobody in his family “would ever suffer from that disease again.”

Again, to be clear, this man is a business partner of Tom Brady, someone the Patriots quarterback called a counselor, good friend and godfather to his son, Ben. And again, to be clear, Alejandro Guerrero has been accused of impersonating a doctor, something he is clearly not credentialed for. The FTC went so far as barring him from attaching the word “doctor” to his name again. Moreover, Guerrero earned a master’s degree in Eastern medicine from a school that no longer exists.

Basically this guy is a snake-oil salesman. Even worse, he’s reportedly preying on sick cancer victims with the promise of a cure that is never coming. Awful.

Deadspin did some digging on the Brady-Guerrero relationship and unearthed a compelling back-and-forth between Brady and Vancouver Canucks co-owner Francesco Aquilini. In short, Aquilini asked Brady to speak to his players, presumably about motivation, winning, what have you. Brady then asks if he can bring his “friend and partner” Alex Guerrero. Someone who has been his body coach for 11 years. The entire exchange is worth a read, if only to show the lengths of which Brady was willing to push this snake-oil salesman on others.
