The loss of Stuart Scott yesterday set a depressing tone at the close of the weekend, but also spawned a lot of great memories about the late sports anchor. We’ve seen the tearful goodbyes and relived the heartbreaking moments, but Keith Olbermann wants to remind us that we lost a lot more than just catchphrases with Stuart Scott.
Olbermann shares a nice story about Scott from behind the scenes, dealing with the ESPN management over his now famous sayings and showing some sensible loyalty during contract negotiations. I think the part that stands out the most is how Olbermann ends the piece on the final image he shared with Scott, at a Paley Center event for ESPN’s 35th anniversary. Scott stood pretty damn tall, all the way up to the end.
There was also a look back at the very first broadcast of Sports Night on ESPN 2, providing a look at Scott’s first full sportscast on the network.
