Saturday Night Live has produced a number of hilarious duos over the years. Chris Farley and David Spade. Mike Meyers and Dana Carvey. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Their golden repartee is something for current cast members to strive for and has long been what sucks viewers in every week. While they have yet to reach the comedic heights of the legendary duos listed above, Colin Jost and Leslie Jones have certainly made a bid for Best Odd Couple in recent seasons of SNL.
While apart they can be a pair of the most polarizing cast members (her for being abrasive, him for being milquetoast), it’s hard to deny that magic happens when they share the screen during The Weekend Update. As Jones’ flirty nicknames get more creative and strange (“You delectable caucasian,” “You sexy vanilla muffin,” and “You frothy glass of eggnog” are particularly hilarious), Jost gets more and more uncomfortable, but you can tell he’s kinda into it. For Jones’ part, she’s going for the gold, shouting “How am I being subtle?!” They are truly the Sam and Diane of Saturday Night Live.
