The Punisher’s Next Appearance In A Netflix Series Was Just Accidentally Leaked

Ever since he arrived in Daredevil‘s second season, fans have been wondering when we’ll next see Jon Bernthal’s take on the Punisher. And it’ll be sooner than we realized, according to an accidental leak from New York Comic-Con.

Yes, right on the heels of NYCC accidentally outing Carrie Fisher’s expanded role in Star Wars: Episode VIII, they took to Twitter to reveal this one:

That more or less reveals we’ll next see The Punisher in Iron Fist. While Daredevil‘s next season is in the works, it and the second season of Jessica Jones are waiting until The Defenders is shot, and that won’t go before the cameras until next year. The Punisher’s own Netflix solo series is still in early days. Some are arguing that Marvel is hinting at an Agents of SHIELD crossover, thanks to the appearance of Punisher creator Gerry Conway at a Marvel event, but considering the tone of that show this season, we’re more likely to see Conway’s Giant-Size Man-Thing.

It’s intriguing not least because unlike, say, Daredevil, Iron Fist and the Punisher don’t cross paths very often. They have, of course, run into each other, in the way of all Marvel heroes, but they don’t have a notable relationship. Just how and why the Punisher plays into Danny Rand’s story promises to be highly interesting, and we’ll find out in 2017.
