This ‘Rick And Morty’ Theory Shows You Just How Crazy The Multiverse Really Is

The only thing crueler than making Rick and Morty fans wait more than a year for new episodes of the show is making them wait after wrapping up season two on a massive cliffhanger. No, not a stupid cliffhanger like The Walking Dead. The show ends with Rick captured by the Galactic Federation and locked up in a maximum security prison.

This has led to a lot of speculation as to how the show plans on extracting Rick from this sticky situation. The theories are all pretty out there, one being that Morty will ask Butter Robot to pass the butter to Rick, who will then use said butter to slip out of his restraints. And now we have an even crazier theory from The Save Point Guild which may not be correct but certainly reveals several mind-blowing aspects of the multiverse as it pertains to Rick and Morty.

They speculate that it’s going to be Krombopulos Michael that will break into space prison to save Rick. But isn’t the Krombopulos Michael of Rick’s universe dead? It turns out that he is not, and that little detail blows open a multiverse of new possibilities for the show.

Here’s what we know: Krombopulos Michael shows up in the second episode of season two, “Mortynight Run.” At the beginning of the show, the Rick and Morty from dimension C-137 dump Jerry off at a cross-temporal daycare, collecting a coat-check style ticket marked 5126. From there they go on to meet up with Krombopulos Michael, and then Morty decides to stop Michael from killing his target, leading us through the adventure where Morty and his gaseous space friend Fart end up killing hundreds of people.

At the end of the episode, they return to the cross-temporal daycare where Rick asks another Rick how many people his Morty was responsible for killing. A moment later, a third Rick appears, asking “Wait, do you have 5126?”

That moment proves that we weren’t watching dimension C-137 Rick and Morty at all from the point they left Jerry at the daycare. And once you realize that, you’ll notice we aren’t always in dimension C-137 for other episodes either.

In episode four of season two, “Total Rickall,” the family home is infected with alien parasites that take the form of “wacky zany characters” and create fake memories in the heads of those around them. He then introduces the character of Mr Poopybutthole – who we assume is one of these parasites until the end of the episode when Beth shoots him and he doesn’t transform.

But if Mr Poopybutthole is real and has been a close family friend for years, why have we never seen him before? It turns out this episode is following the Rick and Morty from the universe where Krombopulos Michael was killed. In “Mortynight Run,” the alternate dimension Rick collects a trunkload of pink rocks on the planet they bring Fart to. At the start of “Total Rickall,” you can see Rick in the background dumping the same distinctive rocks in the kitchen garbage.

The conclusion? This episode did not take place in dimension C-137. It followed the Rick and Morty from “Mortynight Run” – the Rick and Morty from a dimension where Mr Poopybutthole is a close friend. You want more evidence? Rewatch the opening credits of the episode and you’ll notice Mr Poopybutthole has been inserted into many of the shots.

So that means C-137’s Krombopulos Michael is still alive, and he is pretty well suited to breaking Rick out of Galactic Federation prison. But as The Save Point Guild admits in the video, it’s not exactly likely that the show will play out this way. But this theory is worth sharing because of what it reveals regarding different dimensions being the focus of different Rick and Morty episodes.
