We have good and bad news for you. First, the good: Rick Moranis is back, y’all.
Rick Moranis has an album coming out. It’s called My Mother’s Brisket & Other Love Songs. This is the beginning of Rick Moranis’s reentry into the culture. (Via)
The bad news: this doesn’t mean he’s returning to acting. It’s been seven years since his last role, as the voice of Rutt in Big Brother 2, and even longer than that since he last appeared on-screen (1997’s Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves). Moranis’s wife passed away in 1991, and in an interview with USA Today, he explained, “I’m a single parent and I just found that it was too difficult to manage raising my kids and doing the traveling involved in making movies.” But Moranis remains a comedy god to this day for his participation in SCTV, Ghostbusters, and Little Shop of Horrors, and if My Mother’s Brisket is the beginning of his return to culture, we’d be totally OK with that.
Here are but a few reasons why the world is ready for a Rick Moranis comeback.
1. Because not nearly enough people know who the McKenzie Brothers are.

2. Because he’s the epitome of cool.

3. Because he wasn’t afraid to ask the tough questions.

4. Because he had his proprieties in order.

5. Because he was an excellent public speaker.

#6. Because the rap game hasn’t been the same since “Ipanema Rap.”

#7. Because he had one of SNL‘s best monologue and should host again.
(Via)
#8. Because, style icon.

#9. Because he knew how to throw shade at idiot interviewers.
(Via)
#10. Because who wouldn’t watch a Funny or Die with Moranis as Dark Helmet making fun of the recent Star Wars films?
(Via)
#11. Because he was quite the ladies man, long before being a nerd was cool.

#12. Because he was rocking a beard, long before doing so was cool. (He did a lot of things before they were cool.)

#13. Because we shouldn’t be denied hearing his singing voice any longer (“Suddenly Seymour” is perfect).
(Via)
#14. Because we need a Little Giants remake, with the villainous Patriots taking over for the evil Cowboys.
(Via)
#15. Because it’d be a damn shame if his last film was Brother Bear 2.
