For any nerd who grew up during the ’80s and ’90s, Batman meeting/fighting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is pretty much the ultimate in ridiculous crossovers. DC Comics actually made it happen last year, and surprisingly, the results mostly lived up to expectations.
Well, now DC has found a way to one-up their previous Batman/Turtles team up. As revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, another crossover is in the works, but this time it will feature the animated versions of Batman and the Turtles. Here’s your first image from Batman/TMNT Adventures.
Based on that teaser, Batman’s appearance will be based on the classic ’90s animated series, while the Turtles will be sporting their look from Nickelodeon’s 2012 series. Honestly, not having the Turtles look like they did in the original ’80s/’90s series is a bit of a missed opportunity, but this is still pretty exciting.
Batman/TMNT Adventures will be written by Matthew K. Manning, who pens a lot of DC’s cartoon adaptation comics, and drawn by Jon Sommariva, artist of the Turtles’ current comic series. According to Nerdist, Batman/TMNT Adventures, which isn’t a sequel to the previous crossover, will see Batman’s villains escape from Arkham and make their way to New York, where they’ll team up with the Turtles’ rogues gallery. Gnarly!
The first of six issues of Batman/TMNT Adventures hits stands November 9.
