Every once in a while, Nickelodeon finds itself at a creative high mark, producing some of the best animated series on television. Back in 2001, one of those creative achievements was Invader Zim. Since going off the air in 2006, the cartoon has remained a cult favorite among fans, and following a new report, it has been confirmed that Oni Press will be bringing the characters back to life in the form of a new comic book title.
“I’m always confused when people say how much they miss Invader Zim because the show never stopped running in my head, and then I remember everyone else isn’t in my head,” Vasquez said in Oni’s press release. “I try to imagine the world for all those people who don’t know what Zim’s been up to since the show went off the air and it makes me shudder. How can people live that way? Hopefully this comic helps make the world a better place.” (via IGN)
Jhonen Vasquez, the series creator, will be joined by Aaron Alexovich, Eric Trueheart, and Rikki Simons as part of the new comic in some capacity. However, there is no confirmed creative team in place at this time.
