The state of Ohio will celebrate the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2016 NBA championship for years to come in a variety of unique ways. Maybe the strangest tribute we’ve seen so far are these Cavs-themed statues made entirely out of butter that are on display at the Ohio State Fair. According to the fair’s organizers, over a ton of butter was used to create the statues, which is…a lot of butter.
You have no idea how long I had to pose like this while they crafted that thing… pic.twitter.com/5iDa0QTUQH

There are several of these delightful dairy sculptures. The one that Cavs fans will almost certainly love the most features the team’s logo with the Larry O’Brien Trophy incorporated into the design.

If this tribute seems a little unorthodox, well, the city of Cleveland hadn’t seen a pro sports championship in more than 50 years before the Cavs’ title. There isn’t a lot of precedent for how to celebrate one when it happens in Northeast Ohio (the championship parade for the Cavs showed this, as one million people were reportedly in attendance). Now that they have one, there’s nothing wrong with getting a little weird in how they celebrate.
The more important questions: is J.R. Smith at the Ohio State Fair, and if so, is he wearing a shirt? That’s what really matters here. At the very least, he deserves his own butter sculpture.
