Even If You Chant ‘MVP’ At LeBron During A Private Dinner, He’ll Still Hoist The Larry O’Brien Trophy

Ever since LeBron James and the Cavs captured an NBA Title less than a week ago, he and his teammates have rightfully been soaking up the ensuing adulation. J.R. Smith in particular has really lived it up, confirming our suspicion that no NBA athlete was better suited for NBA championship revelry than a shirt-less Swish. But Smith isn’t the only one who continues to bask in the win.

LeBron and his team received a massive ovation at the airport upon their return from Oakland, naturally, but that was just the beginning. The Plain Dealer gave LeBron the cover he so rightfully deserves, and they’re already screaming bloody murder about James’ iconic banner being taken down in anticipation of the Republican National Convention coming to town on July 18. James himself gave a rousing, 15-minute speech to his fellow Ohioans at the championship parade, and he made an appearance at the Indians game on the kiss cam with the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

About that last point, this next anecdote makes perfect sense. Redditor, Xearoii recently told a story in an r/NBA thred about how his friends were recently drinking on the boat at the East Bank of the flat and spotted LeBron and a group eating a private, closed dinner at Alley Cat. They chanted “MVP” at the Finals MVP for just 30 seconds before he gets up with the Larry O’Brien trophy — yes, he brought it with him to dinner — and came outside on the balcony to hoist it up for the revelers.

We wouldn’t let Larry outta our sight for one second, either. Not after what it took to win it. So what if he and his crew were interrupted during their dinner. He was happy to oblige.

It’s truly good to be King.
