THE ACADEMY SNUBS FARRAH, *NOT* KHAN

By / 03.08.10

The Oscars traditionally takes time out during the show to remember movie people who died the previous year, and they traditionally F it up by forgetting to include some notables.  For instance, Don LaFontaine and Brad Renfro last year.  This year’s snubs included Bea Arthur, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, and Ricardo Montalban (Khaaaaan!).  The academy has not issued a statement as of this time.

Also, did I mention the In Memoriam segment featured James Taylor playing a Beatles song?  That’s kind of weird, no?  Were they afraid “Fire and Rain” would’ve made people think of hell?  I mean, it’s better than Queen Latifah last year, but still.  Anyway, my hope is that in 10 years, we’ll have an In Memoriam segment dedicated specifically to celebrities we lost to auto-erotic asphyxiation.  Which will of course feature Danny Masterson scratching an INXS song on his DJ kit.  Probably “New Sensation.”

UPDATE: I should probably read my own old posts that I link to – Montalban was in last year’s segment.  Sorry guys.  I blame all of today’s mistakes on last night’s Oscars drinking game.

“Goodbye, old friend.”
