When you think Adam Lambert, think David Bowie and Queen, says producer RedOne, who is working with the “American Idol” runner-up on his RCA debut.

RedOne, best known for his work with Lady GaGa, told the Los Angeles Times his plans for the current Rolling Stone cover boy: “I want to go rock — David Bowie and Queen, but make it more easy for people to get,” the producer tells the Times’ Todd Martens. “It has to be rock, but with an interesting dance angle to it, you know? You’ll like it.”  The Swedish RedOne hopes to cut at least six tracks with Lambert, of whom he’s already a big fan: “You know what I like about him? He’s fresh,” said RedOne. “You can go almost whatever direction with him. People know him from being on ‘American Idol,’ singing other people’s songs, but you can take him in a new direction, and this will be the first time you hear Adam Lambert with his signature. My goal is to get his signature out from him to the world.”

That all sounds good, but putting him in a league with David Bowie and Queen…well, isn’t that putting him “Under Pressure?”
