Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009.
“American Idol” changed its location to Hollywood, but the ratings results were the same for FOX.
Among adults 18-49, FOX averaged a 7.5 rating for the night, comfortably ahead of second place NBC’s 3.9 rating or the 2.9 rating for CBS in third place. ABC was fourth with a 2.0 rating, doubling up the 1.0 rating for fifth place The CW.
Overall, FOX averaged an estimated 19.66 million viewers to go with an 11.2 rating/17 share. CBS was second with an 8.7/13, followed by NBC’s 6.6/10. ABC was a distant fourth with a 3.5/5, with The CW’s 1.4/2 trailing.
FOX started the night off in first with a 14.8/22 for “American Idol,” which drew an average audience of nearly 26.28 million. CBS was second with an 8.9/13 for an “NCIS” repeat. NBC’s “Biggest Loser” and ABC’s “Homeland Security USA” were third and fourth, while The CW took fifth with a 1.6/2 for “90210.”
At 9 p.m. CBS moved into first with a 9.3/14 for a repeat of “The Mentalist.” FOX’s “Fringe” had a 7.7/12 for second and won the hour in the 18-49 demo. NBC’s “Biggest Loser: Couples” was third with a 7.4/11, while two episodes of “Scrubs” averaged a 3.0/5 for ABC. The CW’s “Privileged” was a distant fifth.
CBS closed on top with a 7.8/13 for “Without a Trace.” NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” was a close second with a 6.8/11 and won the hour in the 18-49 demo. ABC’s “What Would You Do?” special was well back in third.
