The conversation surrounding the shooting in Orlando is a hard one to wrap your head around. The issue involves a dizzying number of factors, and opens itself to an endless range of opinions. We all know how we, individually, feel about what happened and it infuriates us when people think totally differently. Some opinions manage to seem intentionally hurtful, and in spite of this (or perhaps because of it) those voices always find a platform.

Still, as the debates rage on, it’s important that we shout out the people actually doing something. The blood donors. The fast food workers. The rally attendees. The heroes.

JetBlue recently joined that camp of “doers”. With Orlando being one of the airline’s primary hubs, the company has offered free flights to and from the city for close family and domestic partners of the victims killed or injured in last weekend’s attack. The airline is also offering a fee waiver for customers traveling to or from Orlando who need to make last-minute travel changes.

In a recent statement, the a spokesman for the airline said they want to “do our part to help the victims of this tragedy, as well as support the Orlando community through this difficult time.” They continue by offering their condolences. “This weekend’s events are felt by all of our 19,000 crew members, many of whom live in, work from and travel through Orlando.”

The airline will also make a charitable contribution to help support the victims and their families. The current social and political conversations are dizzyingly but we can all get behind positive acts like these.
