PATRIOTS ACCUSED OF SPYING, AGAIN

By / 02.03.08

The Boston Herald reports that a New England Patriots' video staff employee taped the St. Louis Rams' last walkthrough before Super Bowl XXXVI:

The Herald reported that a source close to the Patriots in the 2001 season said the team held a walkthrough at the Superdome in New Orleans before the game on Feb. 3, 2002. After the Patriots took a team picture, a member of their video department stayed inside the stadium and taped the Rams' session . . . "The suggestion that the New England Patriots recorded the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI is absolutely false. Any suggestion to the contrary is untrue," Patriots spokesman Stacey James told the AP.

That denial was enough for the NFL to declare that nothing untoward took place. I think the Pats did it, and will continue to cheat to win. Why? Their mascot is a Revolutionary War soldier for Christ's sake. Do you think Francis "the Swamp Fox" Marion or Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys won the war by fighting fairly against the mighty Redcoats? Even George Washington sought the aid of the French to secure victory. An act tantamount to kicking your opponent in the balls during a fistfight as this historical transcript of the Battle of Yorktown depicts: Cornwallis: You called the Frogs for assistance? Oh, no you din't! Washington: Oh yes, I did. Cornwallis: That's not very sporting Washington, even for a Virginian. -KD
