KFC’s ‘Hot’ New Colonel Is Pete Campbell Himself, Vincent Kartheiser

KFC is going through Colonel Sanders quicker than Cartman can suck down crispy chicken skin. First, it was Darrell Hammond, then Norm MacDonald. But Norm, too, was eventually replaced by Jim Gaffigan, George Hamilton, Rob Riggle, and now, the least likely Colonel yet, Vincent Kartheiser. That’s right, Pete Campbell from Mad Men (or Connor from Angel, if you’re a fan of whiny vampire offspring) is the new face of KFC, and he’s looking “hot.”

Kartheiser — who was chosen for his “hair and flair” and “piercing blue eyes” — plays the “heartthrob Nashville Hot Colonel” in a new marketing campaign for Nashville Hot Chicken, which is amusing enough. But it gets even better when you imagine Pete Campbell writing this statement: “Like KFC’s Nashville Hot Chicken, I’m a bit of a rebel decked out in authentic Nashville flavor, a perfect combination of classic and cool.” Just don’t ask him to drive stick.

It’s safe to assume that Kartheiser was well compensated for agreeing to portray the Colonel, which, on top of the $750,000 per episode Alexis Bledel is making for Gilmore Girls, means the Kartheiser/Bledel residence is doing quite well for themselves. Maybe now they can afford a toilet. A house without a toilet, especially after eating all that Hot Chicken? That’s…
