Paramore Transform Into Morning News Anchors In Their Video For ‘Rose-Colored’ Boy

Paramore is here to take over the fictitious morning show Wake Up, Roseville! in the video for “Rose-Colored Boy” off their 2017 LP After Laughter. Dressed as retro newscasters, the trio blaze through a nightmarish day at work with fake smiles plastered across their faces as the infectious ’80s-inspired pop hit explains the pain of pretending to be happy. “Just let me cry a little bit longer / I ain’t gon’ smile if I don’t want to,” sings frontwoman Hayley Willaims on the chorus. “Hey man, we all can’t be like you / I wish we were all rose-colored too.”

The second half of the video focuses on Williams as she’s confronted by her younger self. The child Williams asks her adult self a series of examining questions (“What are you doing? This isn’t you. Who are you?”) forcing the adult Williams to take a hard look at her choices. From there, the video crescendos and ends with the band letting loose and sending Wake Up, Roseville! into a cathartic chaos.

Paramore kicks off the Australian leg of their tour in Melbourne, Australia on February 8, traveling across the country and across Asia through the month. They return to the United States for a sold-out show in Honolulu on February 23 as well as a handful of festival dates this summer.
