John Oliver Comes To A Terrible Realization About Who’s To Blame For Trump’s Campaign

John Oliver seems as thrilled to see the end of this election as everyone else. To that end, he prepared a special Trump-related segment for this week’s edition of Last Week Tonight. Aaand you may want to sit down for this one. The first few minutes of this segment played like many other Trump-skewering episodes led by Oliver, but then the host made an admission, which was related to a terrible realization. Once again, the Oliver Effect appears eerily prescient to the point where those who witness it stop in their tracks.

Cut to a 2013 clip of Oliver as a correspondent on the Daily Show, where he sarcastically urged Trump to run for president:

“I will personally write you a campaign check now, on behalf of your country, which does not want you to be president, but badly wants you to run.”

In his defense — he admits there isn’t one — Oliver showed himself making another “stupid” (according to Jon Stewart) proclamation, which is that the Chicago Cubs would never, ever win a World Series. Well, we know what happened there, so the host, by delightfully making fun of himself (“I’m an idiot!”), urged America to correct his mistakes by heading to the polls.

Indeed. You can check your polling place by clicking on the handy graphic below. We are almost there, folks.
