Spurs List Tony Parker As Questionable For Game 3 With Achilles Pain

The San Antonio Spurs took home court advantage from the Los Angeles Clippers without Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker down the stretch. And as the potentially classic first-round series heads back to Texas, Gregg Popovich and company may have to play all of Game 3 sans one of their future Hall-of-Famers.

The Spurs listed Parker as questionable for tomorrow night’s crucial matchup in San Antonio. Here’s the team’s injury report courtesy of its website:

Please be advised of the following injuries for Friday’s game vs. L.A. Clippers:
Tony Parker (tightness, right Achilles) – Questionable

Parker was 0-for-6 with one point and five assists during his 30 minutes of court-time on Wednesday night. He left for good with 5:09 remaining in the fourth quarter, and Ginobili fouled out just over a minute later.

It’s unclear as to whether or not Parker sustained the injury during game action or simply aggravated an existing one. Either way, that he’s banged up certainly isn’t a good sign for the Spurs. The defending champion’s February slump directly coincided with Parker’s ineffectiveness gleaned from nagging hamstring pain.

If he clearly isn’t himself for the series’ remainder, the Clippers should perhaps be considered favorites to advance to the Western Conference Semifinals. But Parker has played through discomfort each of the past two postseasons to mostly typical effect. And there’s this, too: San Antonio won Game 2 despite a poor performance from its star point guard anyway.

The Clippers and Spurs tip-off from the AT&T Center at 9:30EST on Friday night.
