Philadelphia is figuratively (and, maybe, literally) ablaze right now, as Nick Foles and the Eagles blew out the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday evening at Lincoln Financial Field to earn a spot in the Super Bowl. It was an impressive win for a team that, despite getting the No. 1 seed in the NFC, many wrote off after Carson Wentz went down with a season-ending knee injury.
It was a major moment for the city, and for members of one of Philly’s other major sports teams, it’s an opportunity to go watch the Birds play in the Super Bowl if their coach will let them. According to Molly Sullivan of NBC Sports Philadelphia, a number of Sixers players want to go to the game, which could be tough, because it’s during the season.
But Sixers coach Brett Brown is a reasonable man, and will let the team attend the game if they can win all of their games leading up to Super Bowl Sunday.
Brett Brown just told @NBCSPhilly that a couple of his players have already asked to attend the Super Bowl. Joel Embiid told me this morning he’s in, if Coach is. The deal? Brett said if they go undefeated the next eight games, they can charter from Indy to Minny.

Between Monday night and Super Bowl Sunday, the Sixers play Memphis, Chicago, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Milwaukee, Brooklyn, Miami, and Indiana. That’s a tough slate, and quite frankly, if the Sixers can go 8-0, they deserve to attend, partly because the Sixers don’t have another game until they host Washington on the Tuesday after the game. And besides, who wouldn’t want to see what kind of fun Joel Embiid can have at the Super Bowl?
