Eric Bledsoe Is Out For The Season After Undergoing Surgery On His Torn Meniscus

The Phoenix Suns’ nightmare season didn’t get any better Tuesday when they announced that point guard Eric Bledsoe would miss the remainder of the season after undergoing successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus he suffered Saturday in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Suns’ coach Jeff Hornacek had originally said that Bledsoe would miss four to six weeks, but the team’s official statement released via NBA.com now says he won’t be ready until the start of training camp next season. This marks the third surgery Bledsoe has undergone to repair a meniscus problem in his knees.

The franchise has been in veritable disarray all season. They’re currently floundering through a 5-16 stretch, which culminated with the dismissal of two assistant coaches Sunday. Though Hornacek has been kept on for now, there have been reports that his job remains in jeopardy, as well.

All of this has coincided with the ongoing Markieff Morris saga, which began this summer after his twin brother Marcus was traded to the Pistons and reached its nadir recently when he was suspended for two games for allegedly throwing a towel at Hornacek. Team brass have said that Morris wouldn’t be allowed to return to the team until he issues a formal apology, which was said to be forthcoming Tuesday prior to practice.
