We can all agree that James Harden is an incredible basketball player. Honestly, we don’t even need to agree on it, because it’s empirical fact at this point; be it climate change or Harden’s basketball acumen, neither requires agreement. He was the MVP runner-up last season, shouldering an immense offensive load for the Houston Rockets. When Harden misses a shot, as he does in this video, badly misfiring from mid-court, it does not change the fact that he’s a great player. Even the greatest miss shots from time to time.
What this Foot Locker #PlayMyTweet video does call into question, however, is Harden’s dancing ability. Among the Beard’s more impressive — yet underrated — physical traits are his hips. They swivel terrifically, helping him avoid traffic and absorb contract on his way to the rim. You would think that Harden would be — at the very least — a decent dancer, since, as we all know, it’s all in the hips.
Then you watch Harden perform the stanky leg – not a complex dance by any means, but still a move nonetheless – and all suppositions go right out the window. Harden’s leg and hip are stiff. He tries to compensate with his hands and the rest of the body, but it doesn’t disguise the lackluster stankiness of the leg. It’s a valiant effort, but we expect better from the best shooting guard in the NBA.
