The New ‘NBA 2K17’ Trailer Pits Michael Jordan And The Dream Team Against Team USA In Rio

Ever wondered how Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and the Dream Team would fare against today’s representatives of USA Basketball? Your curiosity will be sated soon enough.

In an epic new look at NBA 2K17, the next iteration of the top-rated and top-selling NBA video game in the world, “The Dream Lives On” for Jordan and company as they face off against Kevin Durant and other stars currently representing the United States at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The stunning realism that’s become a hallmark of the 2K series seems to have reached a new level in this year’s version of the game. Footage from the video above is almost difficult to decipher from real life. Well, except for the disheartening fact that this tilt of past versus present won’t ever actually take place.

But that almost doesn’t matter. Why? Both the 1992 and 2016 Olympic squads will be featured in 2K17, and Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski is making his debut in the video-game series, too.

Considering the steps this franchise continues making toward blurring the line between gaming and actual on-court play, dreaming is no longer necessary. The geniuses behind 2K17, finally and thankfully, are making it something close to reality.
