Gregg Popovich Gives Boban Marjanovic And A Spurs Reporter Some Epic Pop Sarcasm

Gregg Popovich is one of the best coaches ever, but he may be better known for his interviews than anything else at this point.

Pop only added to his legend Wednesday evening in his postgame scrum following his Spurs’ dismantling of the Heat, 112-88. During the blowout, Pop ended up giving minutes to fan-favorite Boban Marjanovic, the 27-year-old, 7-foot-3 rookie who hasn’t played often this season but who has looked mighty effective when actually seeing the floor.

Boban continued that trend against Miami, dropping in a career-high 19 points during just under 14 minutes of play. Naturally, Pop had his way with his reserve center — who took 12 shots on the night, almost an attempt a minute — when asked postgame about Boban’s performance:

He’s one of the most selfish players I’ve ever been around. He shot it every time he touched it. It’s incredible. I think he should apologize to his teammates for being so greedy. He just wanted to get his name in the paper.

The Spurs coach can’t even end things having merely jabbed Marjanovic. He’s got to get a dig in on one of the media members, as well.

“He listens to a lot of people on the radio. But not you. I listen to you all the time, though,” Pop said before promptly adding “I’m lying” with that diabolical smirk of his.

Once he Pops, the fun don’t stop.
