Tom Brady Allegedly ‘Did A Very Good Job’ Recruiting Kevin Durant

A new character has arisen in the race for Kevin Durant’s talents, and he is not a man we know for a role in the basketball world. New England Patriots quarterback and Boston demigod Tom Brady reportedly took part in the Celtics’ surprisingly effective bid for Durant, and the two seem to have really hit it off.

Who knows what Brady said to Durant during their flight back to the Hamptons, which has been KD’s home base throughout his free agency process. “We have Al Horford now” is probably the most convincing statement anyone could make to Durant in a pitch to bring him to the Celtics, though. With the former Hawks big man at the middle of a framework of high-quality role players and Brad Stevens’ vision, the basketball argument for Durant in Boston has suddenly become stronger than ever. If Brady can teach him how to subtly cheat his way toward favorable championship margins by way of ball deflation and secret camera operations, then all the better for Celtics’ GM Danny Ainge and Co.

Durant is expected to make a decision on or before July 4, so if he goes to Boston, it will look to have a lot to do with the unexpected and likely very flattering theatrics of the Celtics’ celebrity persuasion.
