Check out the Japanese trailer for Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem here

In interviews, the makers of Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem seemed to acknowledge the fact that making the first one PG-13 was a mistake (after all, this is just B-movie alien-gore porn).  They also claim to be focusing more on traditional special effects rather than CGI. It could be good, in a let’s-get-really-high kind of way.

Anyway, the trailer captions are in Japanese, so I can’t tell whether or not they explain why the poster has a giant phallic thing in the middle of it.  But it is interesting to note that, in a tradition that goes back to Commando [linked video is a must watch], deer [deer comes 2 minutes in] seem to be movie shorthand for “Once upon a time, everyone got along and things were good… (and then the aliens / terrorists / vampires / zombies / Aussie villains in chainmail shirts came).”

On a related note: One time I was with Brasky in the back of a pickup truck, along with a live deer. Brasky goes up to the deer and says, ‘I’m Bill Brasky! SAY IT!’ Then he manipulates the deer’s lips in such a way as to make it say, ‘Billbrasky’ … It wasn’t exactly like it, but it was pretty good for a deer!’
