The ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Will Meet Some Of DC Comics’ Weirdest Heroes

One of the more fun parts of Legends Of Tomorrow is how deep they’re going into DC’s history. Nothing appears to be off-limits for the series, and it’s using the time-hopping to rather conveniently stuff in a bunch of characters you wouldn’t see otherwise.

DC dropped a bunch of hints about what’s coming up on their Instagram account. First off, we’ll be seeing two Justice Society members, Hourman and The Sandman (as in the guy with the gas gun and mask, not Dream of the Endless). We’ll also be seeing DC’s war hero, Sgt. Rock, who anchored a long-running war comic for almost 30 years and is still a popular cult character. Finally, we’ll be seeing — of all people — the original Red Tornado, Ma Hunkel. For those unfamiliar, this is Ma Hunkel’s headgear:

Hunkel was a parody of superhero comics of the time when it caught on. She fought crime in longjohns and, yes, wore a pot on her head. Despite the joking appearance, over time it’s been shown she can kick butt with the best of them and was even made a member of the Justice Society. She’s so popular, she was made fun of by Marvel in the form of company anti-mascot Forbush Man.

So, yes, Legends of Tomorrow is willing to get a bit silly. Now, somebody get Keith Giffen on the phone so we can finally see the Heckler get his due.
