Tuesday was a big day for Netflix’s reputation as a major resource for original music documentaries. It was announced that Morgan Neville’s upcoming Keith Richards documentary, Keith Richards: Under the Influence, will make its debut exclusively on the service on September 18.

Neville won an Oscar for his recent documentary 20 Feet from Stardom, which was about backup singers, and featured an extended portion about The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter.” If you are reading a music website, you probably don’t need to be told that Richards is the longtime legendary guitarist of The Rolling Stones. He’s also one of the most fascinating, bizarre figures in music history. His autobiography Life proved that there’s plenty of fodder in his life for a documentary. This is, after all, a guy who may or may not have snorted his father’s ashes, and a man who still enjoys a little marijuana in the morning.

“To my relief, Keith Richards turned out to be a real man—full of humor, knowledge and wisdom. That’s the real Keith we’ve worked to capture in our film, and I’m honored to bring it to a global audience via Netflix,” Neville said. Even if you aren’t a fan of The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards: Under the Influence is a movie you want to keep on your radar. Be ready to head to Netflix on September 18.
