Billy Corgan Discussed The Possibility Of A Real, Original Lineup Smashing Pumpkins Reunion

These days, when Billy Corgan isn’t writing wrestling-related tunes, he’s being a bit of a curmudgeon, which has, in truth, been the case pretty much ever since he came on the scene with Smashing Pumpkins. As such, he has a rather strained relationship with some of his former bandmates from one of the seminal ‘90s rock bands. However, based on a recent conversation, that may not always be the case.

In a question and answer session with TV host and author Jenniffer Weigel, Corgan was asked about the possibility of a reunion with Smashing Pumpkins’ classic lineup: “I have no interest in doing anything that’s inorganic,” he said, before mentioning that he has “no relationship” with James Iha and D’arcy Wretzky, who played guitar and bass, respectively. He also added, “When you’re talking about the natural human instinct to find forgiveness and heal a relationship, I think that never ends.”

In truth, Corgan’s answer was much more about mending his personal relationships with his former band members than getting the gang back together for reunion shows. He somewhat dismissed all these band reunions, before finishing his thoughts by saying, “There’s no temptation there for me. Strictly on my part, I think it’s like, ‘Would I like to find peace?’ Absolutely, of course.”

Basically, don’t expect a Smashing Pumpkins reunion soon, but maybe expect an olive branch to be extended by Corgan. That could be the beginning of something, though. If Guns N’ Roses can get back together, anything is possible.
