Bon Iver Played Some New Tunes From Their Latest Record, Which Is On The Way

Some folks may still be bummed out that the next Frank Ocean record has yet to arrive. But another big-time act that hasn’t put forth any new material in what seems like forever has stepped up to try to help fill the void.

Bon Iver, aka Justin Vernon and friends, showed up to headline Friday night at the Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival and dropped a mess of new tunes on the adoring crowd. Fans probably knew it was coming thanks to a tweet sent out a couple months back, but still, the idea that some fresh material from what will be Bon Iver’s first new record in five years was to finally be heard had to have sent some folks into orbit.

The record is called 22, A Million and all you have to do to get a sense of where Vernon and company are coming from is to take a look at the track list, provided by Vulture. There’s lots of figures and symbols and WTFs on there but that’s part of the deal with this particular band.

The first track on the record, titled “22 (OVER S∞∞N)” can be heard already (see above), as is the case with track two, titled 10 d E A T h b R E a s T ⚄ ⚄ (???). Sounds as rich and haunting and maybe even otherworldly as ever. 22, A Million drops on September 30.
