Listen To Courtney Barnett’s Ode To Ramen Noodles, ‘Three Packs A Day’

Listen, eating pre-packaged ramen is not good for you. Even if you’re like me and you try to class it up with some honest-to-goodness vegetables. But at least we can look down at that boiling pot of dried instant noodles and know that somewhere indie darling Courtney Barnett might be doing the same. The Australian rocker just released her contribution to the Milk! Records compilation, Good For You, which is an excellent ode to the favorite food of the cash-strapped and lazy everywhere called “Three Packs A Day.”

For what it’s worth, Barnett’s heard all the nay-saying around ramen and she’s not buying it (probably because it costs more than a quarter). “That MSG tastes good to me,” she sings. “I disagree with all your warnings.”

No fancy donuts for Barnett. Just give her those glue-less noodles, a package of “flavor” and a kettle of boiling water. The compilation will also include tracks from other Milk! bands, including the awesomely named (and presumably Daria-inspired) Ouch My Face. You can pre-order Good For You here.

If this is your first taste of Barnett’s music, check out our primer on the rising star and her awesome subway party music video for “Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party.”
