Long before Bon Iver was a cream-colored spot on every hipster girl’s thrift store-bought cotton panties, another bearded singer/songwriter working under a nom de band crawled out of the woods and emo-crooned his way into their cold, jaded hearts. I’m of course talking about Samuel Beam (No relation to Jim that I know of, though it’d only add to his mystique and hipster street cred if he were), better known as Iron & Wine.
Now, it’s not often that I post Leno clips on UPROXX, but Iron & Wine’s “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” is one of my favorite songs, despite the fact that it’s on the soundtrack for the new Twilight abortion. That’s some love right there — me posting a clip of singer performing a song from Twilight on Leno. Only for you Iron & Wine. Only for you.
