There’s an argument to be made that the most iconic part of all seven Star Wars films never actually appears on screen. From the beginning, composer John Williams has been providing the epic soundscapes that sound like they came from a military band engaged in an honest-to-goodness Star War. Nothing makes you think of space battles quicker than Williams’ stirring marches, even if you wouldn’t be able to hear them in actual outer space (thanks a lot, science!).
All this is to say that John Williams’ score for The Force Awakens is now available to stream, thereby allowing everyone stuck in their offices to close their eyes and imagine how sweet the new movie is going to be when they finally get the opportunity to see it. Or, if you have seen it, take yourself back to whatever happens in the movie (NO SPOILERS!). Check it out below:
Music this gigantic is often hard to convey. Don’t believe us? Watch the stars of the latest Star Wars try to hum John Williams’ score. And for a look at what goes into making a score for one of the biggest film franchises on the planet, check out this snippet from 60 Minutes which shows the man himself at work.
