Little Mix’s Latest Single ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ Has A Very Obvious Target

One of the downsides of being “a famous” is the fact that the entire world knows about your every little relationship, dalliance and coffee date. However, there is an upside (besides the oodles of money). Pop stars have an unbelievable platform that they can use to deal with their recent exes in the most cathartic way possible, releasing a radio-single-length burn for the whole globe to hear. That’s exactly what Perri Edwards did with the help of her bandmates in Little Mix. Their new track “Shout Out To My Ex” is one long kiss-off to Edwards’ ex, former One Direction member Zayn Malik.

Perri herself kicks off the track with the lines “This is a shout out to my ex / Heard he in love with some other chick” which does little to prepare you for the sort of barbs that are coming. She makes reference to the portrait tattoo that Malik got of her before lowering her shoulder and dropping the boom on the aspiring solo popster.

“Forget that boy, I’m over it / I hope she gettin’ better sex / Hope she ain’t fakin’ it like I did, babe,” Edwards sings toward the end of the song. It’s even better if you picture the other members of Little Mix reacting like the “Supa Hot Fire” crowd. We assume they had to edit out the chorus of “oohs” after she dropped that line. The song’s worth a listen, even if you’re #TeamZayn. Check it out up top.
