Migos Added A Live Band To Their ‘Stir Fry’ ‘SNL’ Performance And It Turned Their Energy Way Up

After showing off some of their comedic chops in an irreverent promo with Charles Barkley, Migos hit the Saturday Night Live stage to perform their hit single, “Stir Fry.” As opposed to many of their recent performances of the smash single, this time they added a live band. It turns out that was all they needed to turn their energy way up.

Compared to their previous performance alongside Katy Perry last year, Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff seemed much more comfortable performing at their own pace without the avant-garde posturing that made that one so awkward.

Migos are set to continue having a big 2018 in the wake of their second studio album, the aptly-titled Culture II, building on the success of their debut. Like its predecessor, Culture II hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, driven by album streaming and the infectious single “Stir Fry.”

Now, they’re following up with a collaboration project alongside Quality Control labelmate Lil Yachty, releasing the “Glacier Boyz” single with Gucci Mane to an enthusiastic reception from fans of the upstart Atlanta label. Migos may have a long way to go to match the legacy of certain hip-hop icons they’ve been compared to, but for now, they’re on quite a run. Get used to seeing them everywhere in 2018, because they’re not going away anytime soon.
